Neighbourhood bakery since 2009
Our story
Hearth & Honey started with one oven, one sourdough starter, and a lot of early mornings.
Claire and Samir opened the bakery in 2009, in what used to be the hardware store on Mill Street. The first year, they sold forty loaves a day and knew every customer by name.
The street has changed since then, and so have we, a little: there are pastries now, and coffee, and a team of six. The starter is the same one. It is older than some of our staff.
We still bake everything here, by hand, every morning. What is left at closing time goes to the community kitchen down the road.
What we care about
Time
Our dough rises for up to 36 hours. It tastes better and is easier to digest.
Neighbours
We buy from farms nearby and give back what we don’t sell.
Simple things
Flour, water, salt, butter. No mixes, no shortcuts.
